Location and Timing

Currently I’m based at PureGym Craigleith, a wee bit north-west of the centre of Edinburgh. With over 220 pieces of equipment and 24/7 access, it’s caters to a wide range of training styles and schedules. Across two floors it has a variety of cardio equipment, free weights, and machines (smith, pin, and plate-loaded) – alongside a functional area, studio, and cycle studio! On a personal note, the range of motion and smoothness of many of the pin machines especially are among the best I’ve ever come across in a gym. For a 360-degree virtual tour of the facilities click here. 🙂

In terms of pricing, attending Personal Training sessions at a PureGym obviously requires a monthly membership – although for the free session following an initial consultation, I do have a limited monthly number of day passes available! The membership options (all including a £15 joining fee) begin from £22.99 per month for access during off-peak hours only, going up to £28.99 for full access, and £35.99 for access to 342 additional gyms across the UK.

The off-peak membership permits access at all times, other than 15:00-21:00 on weekdays. Thankfully my PT session slots (see below) primarily avoid this time period; meaning if cost is a significant barrier to you, the cheapest option is absolutely on the table! If this or any of the other options sound like the right fit for you, sign up here!

Times shown above is the potential range for PT slots. Actually available slots may be more limited due to already existing PT commitments and contracted work at the venue. Please see the available slots at the consultation booking link for up-to-date info.

The session slots shown above are intended not only to increase accessibility in the way of cost, but also in terms of the atmosphere and busy-ness, particularly with the requirements of queer and neurodiverse folks in mind. While specialised and protected fitness facilities for marginalised communities are of course the ideal, and public commercial gyms inherently contain barriers to those communities, I’m still determined to make my sessions as suited to all clients as possible.

Whether you require a less busy area of the gym, a space away from the line of sight of mirrors, or anything else which would empower you to have the best session possible – the quieter hours earlier in the day will expand the options available for us to work with. They also avoid the post-school rush which begins around 3pm; meaning the air is a wee bit less full of testosterone, and the mix of folks who are using the facilities is a wee bit more diverse!

If you’re not yet a member of the gym and you’d like to get an in-person sense of the location before signing up, I’m more than happy to give a complimentary tour during your initial consultation which you can book for free here! 🙂
